Dr. Courtney Gober, Principal of Rockwall High School, recently finished as a state finalist in the Principal of the Year competition by Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP).
In August 2017, he was selected to represent TASSP as Region 10 Outstanding Principal of the Year.
“I am very humbled and honored by this recognition and am blessed to work with talented teachers, great students, and supportive parents. I have learned quickly that my job is to remove the barriers that hinder our staff and students from shining,” said Dr. Gober.
Dr. Courtney Gober, an eight-year principal, has headed the leadership team at Rockwall High School since 2012. He attended Morehouse College and The University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, respectively. He later earned his doctorate from the University of North Texas in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction.
TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty region Education Service Centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region 10 winner, Dr. Gober is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year.
